Introduction of the Team LaWA-Practice

Next to the Chamber of Crafts and Skilled Trades Münster the Team LaWA-Practice consists of the ROC Midden Nederlande (ROCML) and the Borgund Vidaregaande Skole, Norway.

The team gives a joint cross-border vocational education and training with learning and working abroad a priority. With support of other project partners it develops standards necessary for a high quality implementation and assessment of long term stays abroad. Some examples are: a module contract, training plan for the stay abroad, checklist for the implementation of long term stays abroad etc. These tools are developed in close contact with companies in the partner countries.

Already within the frame of the project a certain number of apprentices will be able to learn and work abroad. The apprentices test the concepts and products developed for LaWA implementation by the project partners. Project partners identify companies and participants. Apprentices, participating companies and project coordinators are in close contact throughout the project. The experiences gained during staying abroad will have direct influence on the further project progression.

Product development in practice - Final Report October 2009

The interest of companies and apprentices to try out cross-border vocational education and training during the project was unexpectedly large. This enabled the project partners to gain extensive practical experience and continuous suggestions for further development.

Nine trainees have accepted the challenge of cross-border vocational education and training so fare and spent training sections in Norway, the Netherlands, in Great Britain and in France res. two of them are still preparing to go abroad.

The following products have been developed amongst others with the support of apprentices, their home and hosting companies and vocational colleges:

• Checklist
• Model Application
• Contracts
• Training Plan
• Teaching Agreement between vocational colleges and apprentice
• Logbook
• Certificate
• Final evaluation by the hosting company
• Final evaluation by the sending company

The following apprentices have already completed part of their vocational education and training abroad or are preparing to go abroad:

GVA stands the test – May 2009

The GVA project has gained many experiences. Eight apprentices have learned and worked abroad since the start of the project. Five of them already ended their stay abroad, one is in France currently and two more prepare to go abroad. The products, which have been developed could be tested and further optimised. Project partners have gained many more insights, which will contribute to further develop and optimise the quality of joint cross-boarder vocational education and training. The co-ordination and agreement between VET schools, sending and hosting companies has been systematized and intensified.

GVA nimmt weiter Gestalt an – Stand September 2008

Companies appreciate initiative – May 2008

ROC Midden Nederlande (ROCML) arranged visits in three Dutch companies in April 2008. Together with representatives of the Chamber of Crafts and Skilled Trades Muenster the idea of joint cross-border vocational education and training was presented and possibilities to host or send apprentices were discussed.

Further visits to Norwegian companies were organised by the Borgunde Vidaregaande Skole in Mai 2008. These visits were joined by the Dutch partner, too.

The companies are mainly from the metal- or wood-sector, as this project is focussing on these. They are interested in cooperation and would like to host apprentices and support project partners due to gained experiences with the development of products during the project time.

Companies representing the following sectors and countries agreed to cooperate:
