Products

All products and results documented as follows are intermediate results and therefore preliminary. All products will be further developed and optimised until the end of the project and than published in the final version. Currently most products are available in German only.

Checklist for LaWA implementation:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

The checklist gives an overview to companies, VET schools res. colleges and apprentices what activities are necessary to implement joint cross-boarder vocational education and training, subdivided in the periods before, during and after the stay abroad.

Model application:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

The model application is an example for an application letter to a potential hosting company abroad. It contains all information which is important for a long-distance application, because it is important to write a significant application as a personal interview is not possible, due to the long distance.

Grit for self-assessment:
DE

With the help of the grit for self-assessment individual levels of language knowledge can be identified simply and easy. It is the common European reference frame for languages of the European Council.

Teaching Agreement:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

The teaching agreement is a guide for the accompaniment of apprentices by teachers. The target groups of the teaching agreement are teachers and apprentices. Until now the teaching agreement was not used.

Model contract:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

A contract should be agreed between the sending and the hosting company and the apprentice which defines the general conditions of the joint cross-border vocational education. The model contract is a suggestion for an agreement between the sending and the hosting company and the apprentice. Single clauses can be added, amended or deleted if necessary.

Training schedule:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

If an apprentice stays abroad for more than four weeks, a training schedule has to be agreed between the responsible organisations (§ 76 (3) Berufsbildungsgesetz). The sending company agrees according to the national training agreement a training schedule with the hosting company. The training schedule has to be forwarded to the responsible organisation, e. g. chamber of crafts and skilled trades.

GVA Certificate:
DE, ENG, FR

The certificate will be filled in at the end of the long-term stay abroad by the hosting company and the apprentice and will be signed by both. The certificate documents and assesses learning results an apprentice has achieved during staying abroad.

Final Analysis by the Hosting Company:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

The questionnaire supports the final analysis of a joint cross-boarder vocational education and training. It focuses on questions regarding expenditures and benefits for the hosting company and the apprentice as well as on questions regarding the support by responsible institutions. Furthermore, the learning outcomes of the apprentice shall be reflected.

Final Analysis by the Sending Company:
DE, ENG, FR, NL, NO, PL

The questionnaire supports the final analysis of a joint cross-boarder vocational education and training. It focuses on questions regarding expenditures and benefits for the sending company and the apprentice as well as on questions regarding the support by responsible institutions. Furthermore, the learning outcomes of the apprentice shall be reflected.

Content-Pool

The Content Pool is part of the materials and quality concepts provided to teachers, apprentices and companies to prepare and support a long-term stay abroad. Freely available links are supplemented by Computer res. Web Based Trainings, which can be used either free of charge or with costs within a learning management system (e. g. DistanceLearningSystem DLS®). An overview of available contents res. specialist printers and portals, which sell content, is being prepared in the project currently.

Didactical Models:
DE, EN

The summary of didactical models is a proposal of how to support a long-term stay abroad. It addresses teachers. The practical experiences show that teachers prefer the models “Script and Tasks” and “Minutes of the Lesson” to support apprentices who are abroad.

Feedback Questionnaire
DE

The feedback questionnaire aims to collect the experiences that teachers made with GVA. Therefore, the target group of the questionnaire are teachers. Until now the feedback questionnaire was used as a guide for interviews.

Logbook

Within the Logbook the apprentice documents long-term stays abroad as part of the apprenticeship training. From a personal point of view, he/she describes professional, language, intercultural and personal competencies resp. skills gained abroad. Hence, additional learning outcomes – in relation to the standard training – will be visual. This is of interest for the training company as well as for potential future employees. The hosting company and the sending company have access to the Logbook and the possibility to follow the stay abroad and to comment on it from their point of view.

Comparison of professions
DE

Within the project GVA different apprentices have spend part of their apprenticeship abroad. So fare apprentices in the branches carpentry and metal work participated. Some of the joint cross-boarder vocational education and training was co-ordinated between German and French companies. All companies involved stress the general benefit of long-term stays abroad (e. g. increase of inter-cultural competencies) as well as the professional benefit. The professional benefit has been analysed in a comparison of professions. Therefore French counterparts of the German professions “Metallbauer” (metal worker) and “Zimmerer“ (carpenter) were identified and professional differences have been analysed with a the help of a special grid. It is shown that even close related European professions benefit professionally. With other words: French and German apprentices benefit already professionally from long-term stays abroad. The comparison method and the results are explained in the paper “Vergleich internationaler Berufsbilder”.

ECVET Expertise – Crafts
DE

Within the project LaWA long-term stays abroad were organized for and carried out by apprentices of crafts companies. The European Credit System for VET (ECVET) is concerned primarily with the recognition of learning outcomes acquired abroad - for example through long-term stays of apprentices. Derived from the ECVET various tools and procedures have been developed and tested to support the organization of international assignments as well as the documentation and certification of appropriate learning success. The ECVET expertise gives an insight into the background and introduces the tools and procedures in detail.
